In our M. Sc. class we had two boys, Shubhendu Goswami and Shyamal Dutta whose friendship was like the friendship of the two cartoon characters of the title. So many times Shyamal had to catch hold of Shubhendu’s neck and push him away but the separation never lasted more than few seconds.
One day Shyamal was busy copying some class note and Shubhendu was constantly disturbing him. Shyamal, finding no other alternative to deter him opened one of his shoes, removed the sock, which he, like many of us used to wear for six days continuously and wash only once a week, started swinging it in front of Shubhendu’s face.
Shubhendu was not seen in the neighborhood for a long time.
